Work Being Done

Still working on it - Took it to Lake Country Boat in Buffalo Junction, VA in early December to have Bill Harding and his crew do some work on it. It is hard to get anything done when the days are short, weather is cold and work hours are long so this was the option chosen to keep things moving and get it done right. Bill is an old school boat builder from days gone by and knows this kind of boat very well. Bill advised the original builder was spot on in his build and was a true craftsman. The boat is 100% unique, well designed,  really well constructed with quality materials and deserves the best. Right now I am having the transom done to properly handle the new modern higher horsepower Evinrude motor that will be installed. He is removing the delaminated fiberglass outer covering and reinforcing, glassing, tabbing, filleting, etc... everything inside and out. He will also mount the custom made 6061 1/4" aluminum motorwell plate system that was built by Marty Dabney of Marty's Race Cars in Palmyra, VA. Bill is getting the rear 3 feet of the boat ship shape in primer and then we will review and take it from there. After discussing this with my longsuffering spouse we decided on blue for the boat. This should best for it since after many long discussions with Spray-lining.com technician Mike Tomlin confirmed the consumer product that should be used needs UV stabilization provided by color tint. The color combination will be 1957 Chevrolet Larkspur Blue with white accents as well as some darker blue for the bimini top and other areas. Our good friend Chris Pope who made all this possible by donating his time, skills, expertise, effort and enthusiasm made a good point - honor the original builder and keep his theme. I have to respect this since this was his wishes and Chris really has a good mind for this kind of thing. Thanks again Chris for all your help - YOU DA MAN!
